The Banking and Investment Association is an undergraduate organization at San José State University, working closely with the faculty and its office members to enhance the undergraduate experience and meet the needs of the student body. The organization was created on Spring ‘09 as the Banking and Financial Services Club. After merging with Spartan Investors, a new club was made. Our main goal is to promote activities that benefit the financial community, students, and faculty. In doing so we are able to develop strong leaders in finance.

Alex Johnson is a senior at San Jose State University, majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Corporate Financial Management and a minor in economics. He started as a member in spring of 2011 and was elected as Vice President of Communications and Public Relations in the fall, and is now President. Alex has been awarded both the Presidential Scholar and Dean’s Scholar award. He interned at KPMG for two summers and his passion for investing and finance has led him to pursue a career in mergers and acquisitions. In the future he plans to continue his education and obtain a CPA along with other licenses .

Konstantin is a senior majoring in Finance with a minor in Aviation Management. Konstantin has a strong interest in investing and entrepreneurship. His past business projects include a textbook exchange system for local students, online store, and a product feasibility analysis for a team of industrial design students developing a new product. During the fall ’13 semester, Konstantin is planning to continue pursuing his undergraduate degree and work as a Real Estate Analyst at a full-service investment / development company.

Kathy is a senior at SJSU majoring in business with a concentration in finance and a minor in Chinese. In the past, Kathyhave interned with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. After graduation,Kathyhope to travel and see the world before working a full time job.
Ahmad Khokhar, CIO

Ahmad is a senior at San Jose State University majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics. He started out as a member of the BIA in the spring of 2011 and decided to take a leadership role for the spring 2012 where he was elected VP of Operations. Ahmad interned at both Technology Credit Union as a Corporate Banking Analyst and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in the Wealth Management department. Aside from being an officer in the BIA, Ahmad enjoys engaging in intellectual conversations, meeting entrepreneurs, and exploring new business ideas. With his unique experiences and strong ability to form new meaningful relationships he plans to help his future clients effectively reach their business and financial goals.
Alejandro Escobar
Vice President of Membership
Alejandro Escobar is a junior at San Jose State University, majoring in Finance. He started as a member in his first semester at San Jose State in fall 2012, and was elected Vice President of Membership in the spring of 2013. Alejandro has interned for Affymax a bio-tech financial company in spring 2012, EPRI as a corporate auditor and then interned for Equanum Capital Management, a hedge fund which invested in a long/short equity and option strategy in U.S., India, and China stocks over the summer. He is currently starting an internship with Morgan Stanley in it’s Wealth Management division. Alejandro is working towards establishing a career in investment banking or consulting. He looks forward to extending his vision of San Jose’s reputation in business and investing, and bringing in more attention to the university in terms of prestige and future prospects in the world of banking.

Jacqueline Periaswamy transferred to San Jose State University in fall of 2011 andmajoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. She joined BIA in fall of 2012 and is currently the VP of Business Development and Marketing.
Jacque is currently interning at MassMutual Silicon Valley, a wealth and risk management firm that helps people achieve their financial goals. She holds Life & Health, Annuities, and Long Term Care licenses in addition to the Series 63. Upon graduation she plans on starting a nonprofit organization that helps students reduce the amount of loans they must take out for higher education while reducing the graduate unemployment rate. The experiences she gains from BIA and her internship have proven to be a valuable resource in achieving this goal.
Vincent Yu
Vice President of Technology
Vincent Yu is a senior at San Jose State University, majoring in Business Administration with concentration in Finance. He joined BIA in spring 2012. He was elected Technology VP for Spring 2013, and in this role he plans to provide assistance to all other officers and to professionalize BIA website. Vincent has extensive knowledge regarding Asian culture and economic: he was born in Taiwan, he speaks Mandarin fluently, and he interned in Dentsu at summer 2011. In the future he plans to become a CFA and promote financial literary.
